Ohio congressman Tim Ryan was also vying for the spot, saying that there’s a need for change in the House to connect with voters in the middle of the country and that regaining the majority would take “a new message and a new messenger.”

Still, Pelosi was able to beat her opponent with almost exactly two-thirds of the vote needed to win, after making some changes, like naming newer, younger members to her team
