Introducing Scribd’s First Author Advisory Council
Scribd is excited to announce our first-ever Author Advisory Council, which includes best-selling authors Gretchen Rubin, Tim Ferriss, and Walter Isaacson.
The council members are each best selling authors and leaders in their respective genres.
They will bring their unique points of view to the Scribd community through curated reading lists and participate in select events. The Advisory Council will also advise Scribd in regards to decisions related to the publishing industry.
We believe in supporting our publishing partners and compensating authors fairly, and we’re excited to have ‘on the ground’ experts to help steer our strategy.
About The Authors
Gretchen Rubin is the author of several books, including the blockbuster New York Times bestsellers, Better Than Before, The Happiness Project and Happier at Home. She has an enormous readership, both in print and online, and her books have sold more than two million copies worldwide, in more than thirty languages.
“Reading is my favorite thing to do, and I spend a lot of time with books; reading is both my tree house and my cubicle. I’m thrilled to be joining Scribd’s advisory council to help bring readers the happiness of reading and to lend my voice to their community.”

Tim Ferriss has been listed as one of Fast Company’s “Most Innovative Business People” and one of Fortune’s “40 under 40.” He is an early-stage technology investor/advisor (Uber, Facebook, Shopify, Duolingo, Alibaba, and 50+ others) and the author of four #1 New York Times and Wall Street Journal bestsellers, including The 4-Hour Workweek and his latest, Tools of Titans. The Observer and other media have called Tim “the Oprah of audio” due to the influence of The Tim Ferriss Show podcast, which is the first business/interview podcast to exceed 100 million downloads (now at 200M+).
“It’s incredible to work with Scribd, as we have the same goal: to help people become their best selves,” said Ferriss. “I participated in the #ScribdChat series earlier this year, and the outpouring of engagement I saw from their community was mind-boggling. Scribd and I decided shortly thereafter that partnership (and my joining the council) was a natural fit. Together, we can reach — and hopefully help — many millions more than we can separately.”

Walter Isaacson, University Professor of History at Tulane, has been CEO of the Aspen Institute, chairman of CNN, and editor of Time magazine. He is the author of Leonardo da Vinci; The Innovators; Steve Jobs; Einstein: His Life and Universe; Benjamin Franklin: An American Life; and Kissinger: A Biography, and the coauthor of The Wise Men: Six Friends and the World They Made.
“Scribd offers its subscribers an unprecedented reading experience and I am looking forward to helping Scribd and its reader community continue to flourish,” said Isaacson.
