U.N. Calls Out Trump Administration on Hate Regarding Charlottesville
The United Nations Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (CERD) is urging the U.S. government to “unequivocally and unconditionally” reject discrimination after President Trump’s response to the violence in Charlottesville, Virginia. CERD says, “We are alarmed by the racist demonstrations, with overtly racist slogans, chants and salutes by white nationalists, neo-Nazis, and the Ku Klux Klan.” Over the past decade, the committee has issued similar warnings to Burundi, Iraq, Ivory Coast, Kyrgyzstan, and Nigeria.
