Introducing Scribd’s Unlimited Subscription
We are thrilled to share that we’ve updated our subscription to give you access to an unlimited* number of books and audiobooks each and every month! You read that right, we’ve done away with credits for books and audiobooks without raising our price. You won’t find a better deal, because alongside unlimited books and audiobooks, Scribd continues to bring you unlimited access to news, magazines, and documents, including articles from Bloomberg Businessweek, Time Magazine, Entertainment Weekly, Esquire, Harper’s Bazaar, Men’s Health, New York Magazine, and more.
Now, we know what you’re thinking — what’s with the asterisk? If you’ve been with Scribd for a while (first off, thank you!), you may remember that we moved from an unlimited subscription to a credit-based model in 2016. We made that decision because a very small group of our users were reading many, many times (sometimes 100 times) the price of their monthly membership fee. We introduced credits so that we could continue to offer the best books and audiobooks from top publishers while keeping pricing low.
Over the last year, however, our members have told us that using credits actually creates a psychological barrier that discourages discovery and exploration. We took this feedback seriously, and that’s why we’re excited to offer a sustainable, unlimited reading subscription that brings you the best books, audiobooks, and magazines at the best price, hands down.
Our new unlimited offering will be truly unlimited for the vast majority of subscribers, but occasionally some of these most voracious readers will see a temporary reduction of the catalog for a portion of the month.
“Keeping reading alive and thriving in the 21st century has always been one of our biggest goals, and that’s why we decided to make our subscription unlimited,” said Trip Adler, co-founder & CEO at Scribd. “This change makes us the most comprehensive and valuable reading subscription on the market. It gives us the unique opportunity to provide world-class content to our readers for one amazing price while also increasing our contributions to the publishing ecosystem. In short, we want our members to truly read without limits, and this revamp allows them to do just that.”
Scribd’s unlimited service is available everywhere on February 6, 2018. What are you waiting for? Start reading today.
